About Us

People fall in love with green living in all sorts of ways…for me, it began in Girl Scouts, when my father took our troop out hiking in the local parks, teaching us to identify the trees and giving us our first – literal – taste of the wilderness: sassafras, wild berries, and May apples, washed down with pure spring water.
So it was pure magic years later, when my husband and I became sextons at the old Friends’ Burial Ground in Baltimore… five acres of centuries-old trees, a tiny stone house built around 1840, and two large gardens of herbs and vegetables.
It was the first chance I’d had to actually practice the values my parents had taught…gardening organically, spending lots of time in nature, living simply.
Learning to walk the talk
Even as a mainstream journalist and technical writer in those years, I was focused on corporate environmental and social responsibility…writing feature articles on local social issues and documenting air pollution control systems in the early days of the Clean Air Act. Finally, in 2004, I made the leap to align my work with my values, leaving a corporate writing career to train with the American Writers & Artists Institute and become a green copywriter.
It’s been an ongoing journey! Along the way I have been steadily greening my home and lifestyle, cutting energy and water consumption, switching to 100% wind energy, detoxing the house, reducing waste, and setting up organic gardens and wildlife habitat on our property.
I’ve focused on helping my clients and community to go green as well, offering a variety of products and educational services through my eco-consultancy, Fresh Green Image.
Becoming a copywriter for green business
Along the way to becoming a green copywriter, I’ve gone through AWAI’s Copywriting and Web Writing programs and Joe Vitale’s executive mentoring program. I’ve worked with Perry Marshall, taken Ed Dale and Dan Raine’s “Thirty Day Challenge training, and participated in Pat O’Bryan’s coaching/mastermind program.
I’ve learned a lot about hypnotic writing, infomarketing and infoproducts …but I know from experience that green business works from heart, conscience, and mission as well as profit. The triple bottom line of People, Planet, and Profit, in other words.
